That thing where you share funny, touching, embarrassing, or other stories about me. You can share stories about Natalie as well. That way, she might read my blog... I'm not bitter.
1. I remember your super-duper original coloring books you made when you were a little boy. You made copies and sold them to the neighbors. So much better than a lemonade stand!
2. I never felt that you were an annoying little brother. You've always had the most amazingly kind and easy-to-get-along-with personalities.
3. I LOVE watching your face at family parties and sitting near you to hear all the funny things you say under your breath. You make the funniest expressions and say the funniest things. People who aren't listening closely completely lose out.
And now I will share a memory of Natalie:
I remember the first time I found out about Natalie's picky eating when you came to our house to eat. I loved how she was completely unapologetic and easy-going about it. I think she ate crackers and cheese and was completely happy.
I remember when we went to Disneyland together. I didn't think that she would be interested in going since she was "with child" but she was totally game and we had the best time. She is a lot of fun to be around and having you guys there will always be a sweet memory for me!
I remember the first time I met you. I came over to your house with Curt and Jason and there were a lot of people there and we played Scategories. After we played I remember you pulled out a deep thoughts book and read some good ones. And then everyone was asking you to read the ones you wrote and I thought you'd pull out some notebook or something but you just turned to a blank page in the back of the book where you had wrote them down and read them. I remember them being pretty good but I always thought it was weird that you wrote them in the book. And I always wondered how many drafts you went through before you found them worthy of being added to the actual book.
2. In your homecoming talk you started out by saying, "I'm short on time, so I'm going to skip my opening joke--it wasn't that good anyway." and I have never been sure if that was the opening joke or if you were serious, maybe you can clarify that.
3. I was so disappointed when you didn't come home with an English accent.
4. Usually when playing pick-up soccer, you try to pass and get everyone on the team involved no matter what their soccer experience, but then every once in a while we catch glimpses of greatness when you pull a move that puts someone on the ground in the fetal position wondering what happened to their pants.
1.Spring Break "DO OR DIE" was pretty awesome riding in the car with you guys and Andy... we definatly had the dam coolest car!
2. Remember when Jeremy and I were first dating and Jeremy, You, Dusty, and I were in the kitchen and Dusty just in Dusty fashion asked how we all felt about Jeremy and I dating... It was super awkward!
One of my most distinct memories of you was when you were in high school. Sparta had a game in Logan and you invited us to come watch you play. Keep in mind that I hadn't been able to see you play in years. And most of the soccer I'd seen you play was when you were playing up two years. You were good, but in those early years, competing physically was pretty tough.
Well, anyway, back to Logan. You were late to the game. And as I sat on the sideline, I kept hearing your teammates asking "Where's Jesse? Where's Jesse?" which I thought was pretty cool. But it wasn't until you arrived that I understood why they were so anxious.
One of your first touches was after a goalie drop kick. You were just across midfield, facing your goalie. The kick was really high in the air, you positioned yourself under it and deftly took it out of the air with your foot in one touch and sent it rolling perfectly out to your right winger who was in a full sprint toward the goal. It was freakishly awesome.
Then a couple of minutes later you turned your man and unleashed a wicked, curling shot from about 30 yards that just missed the upper 90.
Tiff, I forgot about those coloring books, how funny was that?
Brad, that is embarrassing and funny. I think they took a couple rough drafts before they went in the book, but ultimately that's where I thought they belonged. I was in 8th grade when I put them in.
Josh, I can't believe you can quote me from my homecoming address. It became my opening joke as I watched all of my time get used up by the elders in the ward. If you will remember, the second one sang a solo in the middle of his talk. That was unexpected.
Hallie, Dusty is one of the funniest people in the world in an awkward situation. He embraces and encourages the awkwardness. To be honest, Jeremy dating you was not really that weird to me.
John, I only vaguely remember the game. That's pretty funny I was late. I swear I'm not nearly as good as you and Josh make me out to be.
Jesse, I still have most of the drawings from your coloring book creation. So many memories, but fairly recently, the CD you made for me with your originals songs and a few duets with Natalie. I love to hear you sing together. I stood and listened to the whole CD w/o moving and cried a few tears. You have used your talent to bless others. I love the song you wrote on your mission when Aunt Connie died. You have a gift. Actually several gifts. You are truly a wonderful person and will make an excellent dad. (I think you should make another color book.) Mom
I remember once in high school we were hanging out with a group of people and everyone was talking, and I happened to be sitting next to you and I here you whisper to yourself, "I am pretty funny if you listen to me."
I remember you telling me about the cop in Logandale asking if your manager was bearing down on you.
I remember many city cups with you.
I remember not being able to play with friends on sunday. So, you and I would make up games in the basement. One classic was "Swamp Thing", where one of us was swamp thing and had to be covered with a blanket that you could not see through and as swamp thing you would try and catch the other person who was jumping around the room from couch to couch.
I remember how you have always been a really nice dude.
I remember singing "La Bamba" at Ryan Lee's mom's house. I think I gave you a piggy back at one point of the song, and then I think we made a two man pyramid at another part of the song.
I remember the first ever Misfits Halloween concert. Wow that was awesome.
I remeber one night while camping in Chad's backyard you had foolishly fallen asleep first so we filled your hand with shaving cream and tickled your nose. But you woke up and slapped us in the face with the hand full of shaving cream. It totally backfired.
I remember when I accidentally gave you bone dammage.
I remember when you called Guevarra, "Eddie Munster". That was last week and that was pretty funny.
-you were my silent enemy because you started hanging out with Lindsey Smith not too long after one of our break-ups and I saw you only as some young punk giving me competition?
-I used to pick you up, sometimes several times a week, when your car would break down, get broken into or get stolen, when we lived in NV? I always felt soo bad cause you'd be so bummed out when I'd see you on the side of the road next to your broken car or at that corner gas station where they probably thought you were a professional loiterer.
-At that same gas station when you got taken by the person selling that horrid cologne? Funnier because you were working a summer sales job and should've seen it coming a mile away. You probably felt sorry for them cause you knew the hell they were going through.
-we went "Clubbing," at one of the hotels in Mesquite when Curtis came to town and we had a circle we would all dance in because we were scared of all the scandalous women? I think everyone there eventually thought we were a bunch of gay dudes. Oh well.
-we taught you how to downhill skate on new-school decks? Yeah, I know you do. And yes, it seemed like we were trying to kill you, but we only wanted the best for you.
-you worked at Wendy's? We were all really nervous for you during that time because, let's face it, it wasn't a highlight. Funny to look back on and laugh, but at the time we were all watching you pretty close to make sure you were ok.
I could keep going for quite a long time and it's been fun to look back (always is), but the reality is, and what's coolest is, that I believe we'll be having this same conversation is 10 years from now.
I remember always wishing I could draw as well as you, and sing and play the guitar like you, and write poetry like you, and say funny things like you, and write songs like you. Heck, I'm still wishing I was more like you. :)
i remember jamming in band practice one time at about noon in your bedroom. about 20 minutes into it, jake walked out of his room next to yours where heath just lived. he looked pretty upset and tired, but said it was okay when we apologized. i think he understood that it was noon so he probably shouldn't have been sleeping still. i loved rocking out with ya, bud. someday again, maybe? technically, the first time we jammed was on the river trip at our campsite, quietly, sitting further back from everyone else so we wouldn't interrupt.
You are SUCH a funny and fun person. You are so multi-talented, but totally not in-your-face about it. You are one of my favorite people.
I remember you as a very young little guy in your tweed suit. You were so dang cute. You had such chubby cheeks back then, who'd have thought you'd turn out so thin?

Jesse-
Where do I begin?
Remember when:
-you were my silent enemy because you started hanging out with Lindsey Smith not too long after one of our break-ups and I saw you only as some young punk giving me competition?
-I used to pick you up, sometimes several times a week, when your car would break down, get broken into or get stolen, when we lived in NV? I could have sworn last time I saw you you couldn't grow facial hair.
